Portland, Oregon is one of the Send Cities of the North American Mission Board. To be a "Send City" means that they city is one of the least reached areas in North America. Portland is in great need of the Gospel. In 2017 we began supporting a Church plant in the area of Portland called Sellwood. We now have a family from LBC who are serving in Sellwood, Trevor and Jessica Wyndham and their four children. The pastor of East Bridge Church is Clay Holcomb. He also serves as the Send City Missionary for Portland. Clay and his wife Leann and their children have lived and served in Portland for many years. LBC continues to send short term teams to Portland to serve alongside The Wyndham family and East Bridge.
Lexington Baptist Church has a family within our Church who has moved to Brooklyn as tentmakers which means they work 9-5 jobs in NYC and then minister to the international community on their off hours. As a church we partner with this family. They work to minister to Internationals in their community through building relationships, English as a Second Language classes, and a weekly home group that meets in their apartment. LBC sends prayer walking teams and ESL teams to ministry alongside the family who lives and serves there. We have plans to begin virtual ESL classes in the Spring of 2021 virtually with Internationals within the Brooklyn community.
Lexington Baptist Church partners with a Persian family in North Carolina. We sponsored them when they came to America as refugees. They now live and serve in North Carolina. They lead a ministry outreach to Persian speaking people all over the world through online theological studies. This enables believers and those Persian speaking people who desire to know more about the Gospel to hear teaching in their own language. People who would never be able to come to the US are now able to gain theological training online. This family has also helped LBC to reach out to the Persian speaking community in Lexington and the Columbia area.
