Pastor Mike Turner

Senior Pastor
pastor@lexingtonbaptist.org
Pastor Mike grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, the son of a high school principal and a music teacher. Later, he attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in English. More importantly, during his years there, he met Jesus through the ministry of Josh McDowell and was called to preach. He then went to Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, for his pastoral training and met his wife, Pam. She was a graduate of Clemson (making their marriage especially interesting every fall) and was also preparing for ministry. They graduated together, then went to a precious church outside Aiken, SC, where Mike served as pastor. From there, they went to Charleston, South Carolina, then on to Jacksonville, North Carolina, where they spent 14 wonderful years. The Lord called them to Lexington in 2008. Pastor Mike takes his pattern for pastoral ministry and church leadership from Acts 6:4, where the apostles say to the early church, “But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
He and Pam have two children, both with military connections. Their daughter, an attorney, is married to a Navy pilot. Their son serves in the Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. They also have two beautiful granddaughters.
Pastor Mike is convinced that the gospel is the only hope of the world, and he gets excited when he sees the power of God impacting peoples’ lives. He is passionate about our church’s mission of making disciples of Jesus in Lexington and around the world, and he can’t wait to see God’s plan unfold here at Lexington Baptist Church.
