"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." (Luke 12:6-7 NIV)

Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10 KJV)

Through these verses, we can see that God DOES care for us. John 3:16 tells us that He sent His ONLY Son to die for our sins. Through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, given eternal life, and we can live a life filled with meaning and purpose–the abundant life.

ICON  Things to know about god...

God's purpose: "He (God) wants all men to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth." (1 Timothy 2:4 NIV)

What separates us from God's purpose? "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23 NIV)

What are the consequences of sin? "For the wages (consequences) of sin is death (separation from God forever), but the gift of God is eternal life (never-ending fellowship with God) in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23 NIV)

God's solution to our sin problem: "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8 NIV)

Our response to God's solution: "Yet to all who received Him (Jesus), to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12 NIV) "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith --and not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV)

To accept God's free gift of eternal life and begin your relationship with Jesus Christ, you need to:

  • Admit you are a sinner and need God’s forgiveness.

  • Be willing to turn from your sins (repent) and turn to Jesus Christ.
"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." (Acts 3:19 NIV)

  • Ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and take control of your life.
"That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:9-10 NIV)
