Music is a true gift from God! It has two vital functions in our lives and in the life of Lexington Baptist Church:
- The Father uses music to speak directly into our souls to heal, encourage or strengthen us.
- We can use music in private or corporate worship to praise Him and bring glory to His Name!
Each Sunday, we offer two worship services in one, unified style: 9 and 10:30 am in the Worship Center. These services are identical and bring together both traditional and contemporary musical styles.
Coming up August 3 through 6 is “Come Awake!” our annual Week of Refreshment. This year promises to be a great one with four nights of wonderful speakers and musicians. Sunday, we’ll have Reggie McNeal speaking and an ice cream social to follow. Monday is a night of prayer and praise led by Jennie Lee Riddle (writer of “Revelation Song”). Tuesday night, we’ll be hearing from Johnson and Sharon Dorn and our musical guests will be Woody and Debbie Lingle. Here’s a little bit more about the Lingles:
Debbie and Woody Lingle have had a lifetime of performing. As one of the youngest to be asked to perform with the Pittsburgh Opera Company, Debbie was snatched right out of high school to sing for Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians, where the couple met. Audiences, including Rex Humbard’s, have thrilled to her dynamic performances ever since. She has continued to sing, do jingles, voice-overs, and on-camera work.
As a Bassist/ Keyboardist/ Composer/ Producer and Vocalist, Woody has performed or recorded with a multitude of artists including Steve Wariner, Emmy Lou Harris, Liberace, Chet Atkins, Bill Anderson, Ricky Van Shelton, Margaret Becker, Out of the Grey, Charlie Peacock, Susan Ashton, Leroy Parnell, Ty Herndon, Larry Carlton and Richie Cole. He currently splits his schedule by touring with Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, composing, and being the Music Director for Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cordova, SC. As a prolific Composer and Jazz player with a Pop and R & B sensibility, he continues to inform all his musical endeavors with his heart for God. After 17 years in Nashville the couple currently reside in the Orangeburg area and continue to infuse their music with their love for proclaiming the Gospel.
We’ll end our week on Wednesay with Rev. Charles Jackson of Brookland Baptist Church. We look forward to hearing from him every year! Also, we’ll have a special mass choir comprised of the choirs from LBC and Brookland. Don’t miss any of these great nights- join us at 7 p.m. in the Worship Center from August 3 to 6!
