Every Sunday in August, Pastor Mike will be leading us in a new sermon series called “Then Sings My Soul” which will take us through several of the Psalms. This series goes along with our “Week of Refreshment” and is designed to uplift your spirit. Join us at 9 or 10:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Starting Wednesday, August 19, we are offering D Groups (Discipleship Groups) for adults. These groups allow for you to grow spiritually while connecting with other believers, and we’ll offer five for you to choose from, including a pastor’s Bible study. Click here for all of the details.
As a part of our fall D Groups, we’re offering this new pastoral Bible study led by Don Howell of CIU. This series is based on the redemptive love of God as shown throughout the Bible. Join us on Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. in the Chapel, beginning August 19.
Are you ready to get in the game? Join us on Sunday, Septmber 6 for Tailgate Sunday at LBC! Wear your favorite team’s colors and attend worship at 9 a.m. Then, we’ll all move over to the Family Life Center for a BBQ lunch (catered by Hudson’s Smokehouse) and have a great time playing a corn hole tournament outside. Lunch is free, just pick up a ticket in the Worship Center foyer in August to help us plan. Wee Care is available through age five during the worship service, and children will eat with their parents at lunch.
There’s a new women’s vocal ensemble starting up, and if you’re a lady that loves to sing, this could be for you! Please join us for an informational meeting on Sunday, September 13 from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. in the LBC Choir Room. The director for this group will be Jean Senn. Then we’d love to have you join us for “Dinner with the Pastor” on Sunday, September 13 at 4 p.m. Meet us in the Fellowship Hall to learn more about our church, staff and to give us the chance to learn a little bit about you! WAM! (Worship, Arts and Music) for children is back! Children’s choirs start back up on Sunday, September 13 at 6 p.m. in the children’s building. WAM! is for children ages three through 5th grade, and if your child wants to be a part of this great ministry, just bring him or her to the first practice. Next Sunday, September 20 at 6 p.m. is our Women’s Ministry Fall Kick-off event in the Fellowship Hall. Ladies, bring your favorite Tailgate foods and we’ll provide the drinks as we gather together as Daughters of the King. This is your chance to sign up to join a women’s small group, lead a small group or to be a one-on-one mentor for a younger woman. Our guest speaker is Emily Yount, and she’ll be sharing her heart on the status of women around the world.
This summer, LBC is taking one more mission trip (September 21-25) to New York City to participate in Global Gates Sifting Weeks. We will be focusing on engaging and sharing our faith with Central Asians living in New York City. This is a great way to get your family involved in mission without leaving the country. Our next monthly men’s Bible study is Friday, September 25 at 7 a.m. in the Reception Hall. Our guest leader for these studies is Foster Christy. We hope you’ll join us for coffee, refreshments and a great time digging deeper into God’s word and connecting with other Christian men.
Are there some changes happening in your parents’ lives that have you a little worried about them? Have you found yourself in a place where the tables are beginning to turn, where you are taking some responsibility for some of your parents’ physical, financial or emotional needs? Join us on Sunday, October 4 at 12 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for “The Parent Care Conversation” led by Kevin Skipper and Chris Sheffield. Click here for full information and to register.
Preschool families, our next Preschool Playdate is on Tuesday, October 6 at 12 p.m. at Virginia Hylton Park in Lexington. Bring your kiddos, friends and a picnic lunch, and we’ll bring the desserts and the fun!
One of our favorite events of the year is coming up on Wednesday, October 28- Light up the Night! Join us in the LBC Main Parking Lot from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for Trunk or Treat, rides, games, music & LOTS of candy! Dress your kids up and have a great time as a family. On November 22, the Lexington Community Choir will be performing Handel’s Messiah right here at LBC. If you’d like to be a part of this great production, you’ll need to attend the four rehearsals (click here for all the details). There are no auditions required, so please come and be a part of this great choir!
