August:

come awake teaser We are so excited for our annual Week of Refreshment from August 3 through 6- this year’s theme is “Come Awake!” We have an amazing line-up of speakers and musical guests to help you come awake spiritually and rejuvenate your life. Check out the full details here, and make plans to join us each evening at 7 p.m. in the Worship Center. In the days leading up to “Come Awake!,” we’ll be counting down with a new scripture verse and prayer topic each week. Make sure to be praying with us in anticipation of this great time together as a church family.

Stand up series teaser We are so excited about this brand new sermon series entitled “Stand Up: Living Right-Side Up in an Upside-Down World. During this three week series, Pastor Mike will unpack how we can live the life we’re called to lead and find genuine community, real faith and the good life. Please invite a friend for this series- it’s going to be a great encouragement!

Philippians Art

Pastor Mike begins a new, six-week series on Wednesday, August 20 at both 4 and 6:15. The book of Philippians is one of the true mountain top experiences of the Bible. Its message is captured in the well known promise: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” In our modern world, with fear and anxiety on every heart, the timeless message of this portion of God’s Word has special meaning.

d groups 3

We are so excited to announce that D Groups are coming on Wednesday, August 20! D Groups (Discipleship Groups) are a way for adults to connect and grow together while digging deeper into God’s word. We’ll be offering two identical six week sessions of these five groups; this allows you to experience two groups this fall. Get all the details on our D Groups page.

We need you to help us celebrate the 121st anniversary of LBC by singing in our 121-Voice Choir! This special choir will be singing on the morning of August 24 at both the 9 and 10:30 services. You would need to attend at least one of two special rehearsals for this day: Wednesday, August 13 & 20 at 7 p.m. If you’d like to sign up, contact the Music Office by email or at 803.996.8832.

Instrumental Praise Join us on Sunday, August 24 at 6 p.m. in the Worship Center for an evening of beautiful orchestral music featuring special guest Jeff Cranfill and the LBC Orchestra. Make plans to attend!

tailgate sunday 2

It’s that time again! August 31 is Tailgate Sunday! There will be only one worship service that day at 10:30 a.m. and no regular Sunday School (Wee Care for birth to age 5 during Worship). We’ll then head next door to the Family Life Center and enjoy a BBQ lunch catered by Hudson’s Smokehouse. We’ll be sitting with our Sunday School classes, so check with your leader for details. If you’re not involved in a class, don’t worry, we have a place for you! Help us extend the theme of this day by wearing your favorite team’s colors or jerseys to church. It’s a casual, fun day of worship- see you there!
